Dragon Ball Super joined the world on July 5th, 2015. Which is the same month as my birthday.

DB Super‘s been “killing it” with non-stop action, plots, stories and stronger fighters.

And not a week goes by without it being in the “news” for something.

Though it’s still airing, there are 7 anime shows like Dragon Ball Super worth checking out.

Each anime falls into the comedy, supernatural, action and magic genres.

1. Alice To Zouroku

Alice And Zouroku Characters

First released April 2nd 2017, Alice To Zouroku is a supernatural series that’s 12 episodes long.

The main character: Sana is capable of creating ANYTHING by imagining it.

There are fewer fights than DB Super, but they’re similar and action packed.

You also get the “slice of life” type of episodes, just like with DB Super.

2. Akame Ga Kill

Akame Ga Kill makes Dragon Ball Super look like a PG cartoon designed for toddlers.

And even though it’s more violent than DB Super, the similarities are obvious.

Speedy characters, bone-crunching blows, and supernatural elements make Akame Ga Kill a worthy alternative.

3. Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom 4 3

The main character: Koro Sensei is an alien with supernatural abilities, who moves at Mach-20 speeds.

When you takeaway the school elements of Assassination Classroom, what you get is an action/comedy series.

Not to mention some jaw-dropping battle-scenes, dark elements, and other similarities to Dragon Ball Super.

4. My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia 2

My Hero Academia is an anime about becoming stronger and overcoming your challenges.

That alone makes it like Dragon Ball Super.

It’s still in the early stages of its development, but My Hero Academia is one of the best alternatives.

And like DB Super, each character is memorable and unique in their own way

5. The Devil Is A Part Timer

The Devil Is A Part Timer

The Devil: Satan works part-time at a local restaurant: Mc Ronald’s to make a living.

Why? Satan realizes for some strange reason, almost all of his powers don’t work on planet earth.

What connects DB Super to The Devil Is A Part-timer?

Both are supernatural, have otherworldly characters, and enough comedy to make you spit out your evening dinner.

6. Slayers

Lina Inverse Slayers

Slayers is the most similar show to Dragon Ball Super (And DBZ).

It’s an adventure series made back in the 1990’s by J.C. Staff.

Slayers has overpowered characters, techniques capable of destroying the earth, and other similarities you’ll love.

And you’ll be entertained for a good while, as it’s 5 seasons long.

7. Magi Series

Magi: Labyrinth of Magic & Kingdom of Magic is a nice alternative for DBS fans.

Like Slayers, you’ll find big adventures, unique locations, lots of scenery and supernatural battles.

And the main character is so similar to Goku (as a kid) they may as well have been twins.
